DHEA Information

This site claims that DHEA supplements have been shown to increase energy levels, enhance memory and cognitive functions, reduce the ill effects of stress, and improve immunity to diseases. But they aren't telling the whole story...

I'm not even sure all the studies they claim the results from actually used 'DHEA supplements' -- some of the probably used DHEA supplementation, delivering the hormone intravenously. They cite in detail one study that showed promising results for DHEA in treating anorexia, both for bone loss and to alleviate the illness itself.

One of the hormones, DHEA, seemed to have a positive effect on psychological symptoms among anorexic women, including body image concerns and attitudes toward eating, researchers report in the November issue of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. ... The investigators found that women taking DHEA experienced a decrease in several psychological symptoms related to anorexia. In the DHEA group, concerns about body image declined 24%, unhealthy attitudes toward eating dropped 26% and anxiety decreased 12%.

What they do not mention are any of the negative side-effects associated with DHEA use, nor the potential for increased cancer risks. True, this site is in business to sell DHEA supplements, but if the information they provide is biased do you really want to support them by buying their product?
