Honest DHEA Information
This webpage provides a description of DHEA benefits, side effects and dosage information, as well as feedback from users who relate their firsthand experiences, both positive and negative.
Produced by Ray Sahelian, the main goal of the site is to sell DHEA, and the overview provided at the beginning of the page is somewhat biased in favor of the supplement. Unlike most sites, however, it does include negative information, including the experiences of readers, who say such things as: I started taking DHEA in October of 1996 and it has totally ruined my life. Yes, at first it gave me energy, the reason I started taking it, and it did actually give me a feeling of well-being. However, after about a year or a year and a half, I began to lose good judgment, became too sexual for my own good or anyone else's for that matter, had a total personality change, became aggressive, and fearless. The results ruined my marriage and other people's lives, caused me to lose my good reputation, all of my assets, my business, and my health. Of course, the overall gist of the messages and questions tends to be positive, but at least some negative information is included.
Perhaps the best advice on this site is not highly emphasized, but is well worth repeating here: I don't recommend anyone take DHEA for prolonged periods unless they have had blood studies and a medical evaluation to determine that they are deficient in this hormone. With that caveat firmly in mind, this supplement is certainly worth looking at, particularly for those over 60. Small dosage supplements may do more good than harm at that age.
